DESCRIPTION:Under the name WeFeedUs\, a group of neighbors in Seward + Longfellow are working to increase access to healthy\, home-grown fruits and vegetables—and also garden infrastructure—in an ongoing effort to nourish one another. \nIn Seward this summer\, WeFeedUs has been organizing a free weekly farm stand inside the Matthews Park Community Garden every Wednesday evening\, during our weekly work night. We’d love for more neighbors to know what we’re up to! And to join us in growing food + growing community. Please feel free to stop by on Wednesdays—or any other evening. \nIf you’d like to contribute produce to the farm stand\, drop-off begins at 5pm. Garden participants usually gather around 6 or 6:30pm and stay until dark. Items can be left on the picnic tables inside the garden. \nFavorite items among families who frequent the garden include: cooking greens (kale\, collards\, cabbage)\, tomatoes\, cucumbers\, carrots\, zucchini\, beets\, green beans\, spicy peppers\, and melons.Questions can be emailed to wefeedus.seward@gmail.com.

DESCRIPTION:The Seward Environment Committee (SEC) encourages and supports all residents who want to organize environmental actions and initiatives.  Everyone is welcome including youth\, renters\, businesses\, people who work or school in Seward\, diverse communities and the elders of our community. \nThe SEC meets on the 4th Thursday of most months at 6:30 pm at Matthews Park Center\, in the Craft Room. DESCRIPTION:You are invited to our first Seward Sparkle event at Mathews Park! You can make your own sun catcher to hide around Seward or give to a sparkly person. Funding for this event is provided by SNG’s Community Engagement Committee. Sign up to volunteer at the event! \nAbout Seward Sparkle\, by founder\, and Seward Neighbor\, Angel Teske \nEarly 2026 was a difficult time during operation metro surge. I wanted to do something creative to spread some love throughout my community. I started making mini sun catchers and giving them to people at protests helping neighbors. It brought so much joy to share something light and beautiful during such darkness. \nI wanted to continue to share the sparkles and community and the idea of Seward Sparkle was born. I am grateful to have received a grant from the Seward Neighborhood Group to share some sparkles around Seward. \nFollow along the project and share your own pics of found sparkles @sewardsparkle
