SUMMARY:National Night Out
DESCRIPTION:National Night Out is coming up! National Night Out (NNO) is an annual nationwide event that encourages residents to get out in the community\, holding block parties and getting to know their neighbors is a way to encourage crime prevention and create community. It’s a great way to enjoy a Minnesota summer evening surrounded by friends and family. NNO is celebrated the first Tuesday evening in August every year.  In 2026 it falls on Tuesday\, August 4th.  Every block club event is individually planned. NNO out parties range from an informal potluck in someone’s yard to a closed off street with more formal games and activities. \nSNG provides resources for block club leaders to help organize their events. Please contact lily@sng.org for more information. \nApply to close-off your block \nNational Night Out event registration is now open. Make a plan for your neighborhood and sign up early to receive digital flyers and information about our National Night Out Pop-Ups\, where registered hosts can receive supplies for their National Night Out neighborhood events. \nRegister your block’s National Night Out event by July 28. \nAdditional Questions? Attendees will receive resources to connect with local health providers in the Twin Cities\, and learn what it takes to stay healthy. \nFood will be provided at no cost. Interpreters will be provided for language support in Somali\, Amharic\, and Oromo. Please email sophia@sng.org if you or someone you know needs additional language support.

SUMMARY:36th ART - Brackett Park Rocket Lighting Event
DESCRIPTION:36th ART is hosting a Brackett Park Rocket Lighting event during the Greenway Glow Festival in conjunction with the 3rd annual yarnbombing of the fence atop the bridge\, led by Jack Becker. We are seeking artists to help illuminate the rocket in a variety of fun and entertaining ways\, including multi-colored projections\, LED string light programming\, and a youth-orchestrated flashlight flash mob\, accompanied by dramatic lift-off sound effects and billowing steam. Imagine the Brackett Rocket “taking off” while a circle of community youths—using colored gels over their flashlights—simulate a fiery lift-off! \nPlans call for a community potluck picnic\, a bonfire\, live music\, and lawn games (permit pending). Special guests will include Randy Walker\, the artist who created the sculpture “Return Journey” in 2007 using the original rocket ship that stood for decades in the playground.
