From April 1st through April 25th there were seventy-seven (77) residential burglaries in the 3rd Precinct. That is a 45% increase from the same period last year. They occurred throughout the precinct. At this point Minneapolis Police have arrested five suspects who may have been involved in these burglaries.

In response to these crimes, Third Precinct Officers are doing extra patrols in the hardest hit areas – when available between calls. Your best defense to reduce your chances of becoming a victim is to take some simple, common sense Home Security precautions.

Join SNG and the Minneapolis Parks at the annual Earth Day Clean up. The MPB will provide the supplies and advanced registration is NOT required! Simply show up at 24th St. & West River Pkwy and pick up your gloves and garbage bag. There will be supplies for cleaning and stenciling near-by storm drains also.
Trees are available for Minneapolis property owners including residents, businesses and nonprofits. This program is a collaboration of the City of Minneapolis and Tree Trust. Trees are going fast so order soon here.

The need for blood is constant and only volunteer donors can fulfill that need for patients in our community. Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every 2 to 3 seconds and most of us will need blood in our lifetime.
Seward Neighborhood Group currently has three seats on the Board of Directors to fill. Any Seward resident over the age of 18 who wishes to become more involved in the neighborhood is welcome to run for the Board. We would love anyone who has an interest in furthering SNG’s mission, which is to “Make Seward a better place to live, work and play”. Some specific skills we would love to see in a Board member, though not required are:

Garage sales are the perfect reuse and recycle event, your trash becomes someone elses treasure. Join SNG on May 18th and 19th for our annual Garage Sale Days. Registration fee for the SNG sales is just $18, for this you get a place on our printed map, an official garage sale lawn signs, copies of the sales map and a link on our website.

You can order a $25 tree to plant on your Minneapolis property this spring
Starting Monday March 7 in City Council Wards 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 and Monday, March 21 for the entire city, the City of Minneapolis is offering more than 1,200 three- to eight-foot trees for only $25 each. Mark your calendar now. Order your tree at www.treetrust.org or call 952-767-3886. You must pick the trees up on May 21, 22, or 23 at the Minneapolis Impound Lot.
