Right before New Year’s, the deadline for applications for mortgage relief for federally backed mortgages was extended to February 28, 2021 under the CARES Act. The Minnesota Commerce Department and Minnesota Housing issued a joint consumer alert to encourage homeowners who may be impacted by COVID-19 financial hardships to contact a home ownership advisor to see if they are eligible.

In Minnesota, about 13,000 Minnesota homeowners, or more than one in ten, have FHA-backed mortgages that are delinquent, which means thousands of Minnesota homeowners are behind on mortgages and could be impacted by the deadline to apply for mortgage relief.
Please note that those who do not have a federally backed mortgage may be eligible for assistance. They should contact their mortgage lender or servicer for more information.
Please share this information widely so as many people who are eligible can apply. Do not hesitate to call or email me with any questions.
