Environment Committee Meeting – virtual!

March 27 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

By the Seward Environment Committee to the second part in a series of information sessions on the “Re-imagining of I-94”, the possible redesign by MnDOT of the seven and one-half mile stretch of the interstate between the two downtowns, Minneapolis and St. Paul. What should the redesign elements be? Fewer traffic lanes? More lanes? Land bridges? An at-grade boulevard with urban in-fill? Mass transit? Cleaner air? Less noise? Or nothing at all?

Rochester, NY has answered some of those questions as part of its reconstruction of the highway loop around downtown. The east section of the loop was recently filled in and redeveloped with commercial and economic investment. Currently planning is underway on the north section with a greater eye for redressing the harms done to the adjacent neighborhoods and the altered lives of their residents.

What: a brief presentation and Q&A with Suzanne Mayer and Shawn Dunwoody of Hinge Neighbors, a Rochester organizing and planning group
When: Thursday, March 7-8:30pm
