History Committee
The mission of the History Committee is to collect, research, and interpret stories and historical events related to the Seward Neighborhood and to share them with the public for purpose of education.
What we work on together
The committee has conducted neighborhood talks and walks, commissioned plays, and produced unique events based on the history of Seward. Their belief is that shared history and sense of space can build community.
Research
Ongoing research of Historical Buildings in Seward to collect the stories they tell us about the growth of the neighborhood.
Storytelling
Creating opportunities to tell stories of the buildings, people, and events from Seward’s history through newsletters, website, blogs, or events.
Join us
The committee has been donating boxes of materials to the Seward Neighborhood Group Records collection in the Hennepin County Library archives since 2010. This collection is available to all by contacting HCLIB Special Collections staff at specialcoll@hclib.org or 612-543-8200.

To get a copy of the award-winning book, “The People’s History of the Seward Neighborhood”: You can purchase a copy of the book locally at Smart Set Community Printing, M-F 8am to 5pm, at 2521 24th Avenue South. The cost is $25.00. Alternatively, you may borrow a copy at Hennepin County Libraries.
Join us for a Meeting
The History Committee meets in-person on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 4:00 pm at Matthews Center in the craft room. All are welcome to attend.

The history committee is primarily a research work group and open to all Sewardites who are interested in exploring local history.

The Environment Committee is a great way to build community and create hope. Get to know neighbors and do something, even something small, to protect and improve our natural environment. Together, we can take small steps, on our way to the changes we need.
Community Development Committee
Ensures that Seward’s built environment—commercial, industrial, housing, parks, roads, bikeways, pedestrian environment, utilities—is safe, improving, serves all residents, owners and workers, is well-maintained and environmentally sustainable.
