Community Development Committee
Ensures that Seward’s built environment—commercial, industrial, housing, parks, roads, bikeways, pedestrian environment, utilities—is safe, improving, serves all residents, owners and workers, is well-maintained and environmentally sustainable.
What we work on together
The committee oversees these main areas that shape how Seward grows. Each one matters to the neighborhood’s future.
Advocating for Traffic Calming
Engage all groups in the Seward Traffic Calming Program, guided by the Safer Street for Seward report of 2026.
Satisfying Land Use
Review and initiate proposals/projects related to land use, public spaces and infrastructure, licenses, and transportation.
Supporting Local Participation
Support groups of neighbors working on built environment issues, for example, 36th ART.
Voicing Neighborhood Concerns
Represent and promote the Seward neighborhood to developers, government agencies, and other parties.

CDC Evaluation Guidelines
Proposed projects and requests for support come before the CDC for conditional use permits, rezonings, building permits, street changes, business changes, park changes, subsidy requests, and for other proposed – usually physical – changes in the neighborhood. One of the roles of the CDC is to preview these proposals and provide a summary and recommendation to the SNG Board of Directors for potential action.

History Committee
The mission of the History Committee is to collect, research, and interpret stories and historical events related to the Seward Neighborhood and to share them with the public for purpose of education.
Environment Committee
The Environment Committee is a great way to build community and create hope. Get to know neighbors and do something, even something small, to protect and improve our natural environment. Together, we can take small steps, on our way to the changes we need.
