SNG’s Block Club resources support the leaders who keep Seward feeling like a small town in a big city. Whether you’re starting a new block club or keeping an established one going, these resources are here to help you get—and stay—connected.

The SNG Small Grant program funds community-proposed initiatives that support the neighborhood. Since 2023, the Small Grant program has included beautification efforts, street art, festivals, educational events, restorative justice, as well as BIPOC and renter resident engagement.

The Seward Garden Tour brings neighbors together each year to stroll through the beautiful gardens of the Seward neighborhood. The evening wraps up with an after-party in a backyard garden, complete with refreshments, light snacks, and door prizes. Proceeds support community-led initiatives and beautification projects in Seward.

Seward Yard Sale Days brings neighbors together each fall for a weekend of garage and yard sales across Seward. Residents sign up to add their address to the neighborhood map and welcome shoppers to browse sales throughout the community. It’s an easy way to clear out unwanted items, meet neighbors, and enjoy some time outdoors. There’s no fee to participate in 2026.

Seward Towers Corporation preserves two residential high-rises that provide affordable housing to hundreds of Seward households. Formed in 1990 to preserve two buildings comprising one of the largest affordable housing projects in Minnesota, the corporation was created to keep residents integral to the Seward community.

36th ART (Avenue Revitalization & Transformation) is a volunteer group of neighbors working to transform 36th Avenue South into a safer, more welcoming corridor connecting Seward and Longfellow. Bringing together residents, artists, and local businesses, the group reimagines overlooked spaces along the avenue with public art, greenery, and gathering places.

Hub of Heaven is Seward’s community garden, located on the corner of 26th Street and 28th Avenue. Gardeners have tended its plots for decades without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The garden welcomes new members every spring, with gardeners maintaining their own plots and pitching in on community chores.
