Under the name WeFeedUs, a group of neighbors in Seward + Longfellow are working to increase access to healthy, home-grown fruits and vegetables—and also garden infrastructure—in an ongoing effort to nourish one another.
In Seward this summer, WeFeedUs has been organizing a free weekly farm stand inside the Matthews Park Community Garden every Wednesday evening, during our weekly work night. We’d love for more neighbors to know what we’re up to! And to join us in growing food + growing community. Please feel free to stop by on Wednesdays—or any other evening.
If you’d like to contribute produce to the farm stand, drop-off begins at 5pm. Garden participants usually gather around 6 or 6:30pm and stay until dark. Items can be left on the picnic tables inside the garden.
Favorite items among families who frequent the garden include: cooking greens (kale, collards, cabbage), tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, zucchini, beets, green beans, spicy peppers, and melons.
